Position:  Director, Strategic Analytics

Job Summary:

The Director, Strategic Analytics works with Sales to sell our client’s SaaS-based analytics/profiling solution and packaged consulting offerings into Pharmaceutical companies (includes biotech, medical device, surgical device).  They will carry a Product-level sales goal that influences their bonus earnings potential.

Director, Strategic Analytics will be the go-to expert on the product line and associated analytics offerings, ensuring customer needs are met and helping to apply product expertise to solve client business problems.  Works with VP, Strategic Analytics to provide input on strategic direction and technical evolution of product offerings across a variety of clients and prospects.

Must be comfortable addressing the business needs of and pitching to pharmaceutical sales leaders (VPs of Sales/VP Sales Ops/Regional or District Managers, etc.), brand team and/or market research , writing proposals, and acting as a consultative advisor. Pharma clients may range from Top Ten pharma (Merck et al) down to smaller biotech and medical device companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Work hand in hand with account RVPs to sell analytics product offering into Pharma and related Sales organizations
  • Leverage data to provide customer insights
  • Help grow SaaS and analytical business by “thinking for our clients” – demonstrating thorough understanding of pharma sales challenges and leveraging offerings and data to help clients meet those challenges
  • Act as the visible face of the software and analytical expertise to a group to clients and prospects in live meetings
  • Work closely with VP, Strategic Analytics and the Data Science team in California to extract data, derive insights, and present to clients in understandable, actionable deliverables
  • Work closely with Product Development to define capabilities for current and future SaaS and pre-packaged consulting products
  • Define the scope and approach of strategic analysis for clients. Kick off meetings, communicate project plans, and deliver end results
  • Provide thorough responses to client strategic requests
  • Ensure client satisfaction related to product offerings
  • Explore opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell existing clients or prospects by collaborating with Client Services and Sales to assess clients’ needs and craft and present proposals that meet those needs
  • Establish positive long term relationships with clients and other vendors/partners that may serve them
  • Demo software products and review potential analytics solutions with prospective clients
  • Drive opportunities in new clients

Requirements:

  • Analytics professional with experience working within areas like a) pharma sales departments, selling knowledge-based SaaS or data analytics solutions into or consulting with pharma companies, b) selling into pharma analytics organizations c) and/or selling or supporting sales of primary/secondary data to pharmaceutical clients
  • Knowledgeable of healthcare and pharma industry and trends
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills a must
  • Presentation, storytelling, and project management training
  • Passion for leveraging social network analytics within healthcare to help meet business objectives
  • Microsoft Office (advanced Excel) and Apple iWork (Keynote) a must
  • Strong consultative and communication skills. Active listener. Proven ability to discuss business issues and develop client solutions
  • Self-motivated and organized. Proven ability to establish and develop long lasting relationships.
  • Willing to travel up to 50% or more. Will work from virtual home office.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams including statistical, technical marketing and sales professionals
  • Strong technical skills (SAS, SQL, Stata, etc.) highly desirable
  • Prior Strategy/Consulting experience in Pharma/Med Device (ZS Associates, Bain, BCG, PWC, etc..) highly desirable.

Education and Typical Years of Experience:

  • 5-10 years of pharma analytics or strategy consulting experience
  • MBA/MS or the equivalent combination of education, training and work experience may be suitable
